Starting on 26th September 2012 our classes will be held on Wednesday nights at the West lakes Tennis Club, 21 Edwin Street, West Lakes commencing 7PM. It's a big, classy and vibrant venue with lots of atmosphere. The dance room, while not overly large, is ample for a good-sized class.

We are sad to move on from the West Croydon/Kilkenny RSL after three years, but this opportunity was too good to pass up. We look forward to a bright future in our new location with warm weather just around the corner. At our last class at the RSL 24/08/12 we snapped David, Marie, Ev and Ricky.

Sadly, we won't have a class on Friday 3rd August, as I have to attend a business engagement. Sorry to all for the inconvenience. We will resume on Friday 10th August and with Spring peeping over the horizon, people might start dusting off their dancing apparel, limbering up and marking their diaries to come and join us.

As the West Croydon/Kilkenny RSL hall is being used for a private function, we won't be able to hold a class there on 20th July. The following week will be back to normal.

Our Tuesday Rock n Roll classes at the West Croydon/Kilkenny RSL have now ended, as it is no longer economical to continue them. Tuesday has proven problematic, with the hall having been unavailable on quite a few occasions and this has disrupted our momentum.

After discussions with the club management, it has been decided to move them to Friday nights. This will work well with the club, as they are open on Friday nights for meals anyway, and their members may well be interested in staying on to do some dancing.

Initially, the Friday sessions will be free during a testing phase. This will allow people who may not want instruction, but just somewhere to come and practice to join us. People who come along and learn some moves might like to go elsewhere afterwards to use them.

The times will remain from 7.30 PM until 10 PM, commencing next Friday, 13th April 2012.

I would like some indication from our regulars as to whether or not they will attend on Friday nights. Please advise me about this.

Yes, Christmas is here again. On Tuesday 13th December we will hold our christmas get-together at the Kilkenny RSL. It will be great if everyone can attend to help us gain some Christmas cheer. Bring a few cakes, lollies or whatever and wear your Christmas-style clothing. There will be no class on Tuesday 20th December, but we will be back on 27th December.

Unfortunately, there is no class on Tuesday 8th November due to the hall being used for another function. Hope to see everyone there next week as usual.

Hopefully, our regulars won't get too hot under the collar at news that our price is changing. It will increase from $5 to $7 as from Tuesday 31st May 2011. This is the first price change at my classes in six years, so it's well overdue. The additional $2 shouldn't require a visit to the bank loans consultant.

We will have a night off on Tuesday 26th April 2011 due to the RSL hall being used for a private function. Unfortunately, I received the advice about this after I had advised everyone that the class would still be held that night regardless of it being a public holiday in South Australia. It would be of greatly appreciated if regular attendees ensure that others who they have contact with are aware of the change.

Unfortunately there will be no class on Tuesday 9th November as our venue is being used for another Rock 'n' Roll show. It's part of The Adelaide Rock 'n' Roll Festival arranged by the Adelaide Rock 'N' Roll Club Inc. Classes will return to normal on Tuesday 16th November.

This year Victor Harbour rock n roll festival is on again this year. It's from 17th to 19 September. Bands will be playing in Ocean Street and Warland Reserve. There will also be evening dinners at local venues.

Could anyone who is interested in going for a day trip please advise me. We can organise a couple of cars to go in.

From Tuesday 10th November our classes will be held at the West Croydon / Kilkenny RSL, 19 Rosetta Street, West Croydon. It's a big venue with a large, excellent dance floor - one of the best in Adelaide. The venue is well known among Rock n Rollers as a top spot to dance. Many major events are held there.

For the benefit of international readers, RSL stands for Returned Services League. It's a support organisation for men and women who have served or are serving in the Australian Defence Force.

To find it, turn onto Rosetta Street from Port Road or Torrens Road. From the Port Road end it's immediately on your left as you emerge from the railway under-pass. Rosetta street is about 2 kilometre along Port Road from the Entertainment Centre (on the right) and about 1 kilometre further along than South Road. It's just beyond the Welland shopping centre.

We can meet there from 7 PM with classes starting at 7.30 PM.

Please be sure to tell your friends. The venue can accomodate a huge group if needs be.

We will have a new venue on Tuesday 10th November. I have a organised several centrally located, excellent venues, but one is by far the best choice. Our new home will be advised as soon as Wednesday. Unfortunately though, none of our choices are available for this week.

If at all possible I will keep the weekly cost at $5.

Tuesday night this week I suggest we meet at the Royal Oak Hotel in O'Connell Street, North Adelaide. Cabernet Cabaret are playing there from 9.30 PM. We can dance to some of their music and enjoy each other's company in a more social way.

I will organise a meal at Fasta Pasta in O'Connell Street from 7 PM if enough people tell me they are interested. Please let me know.

Our fabulous-fun dance classes have been a winner but, sadly we must say good-bye to this venue.

Operators Roman and Helena have closed their doors for good due to low profits. That comes as no surprise as we have known for a long time they were struggling. We thank them very much for their kindness in making their venue available to us and wish them the very best for their future.

The happy group of rock 'n' rollers shown are our very last class at 89 Prospect Road.

Several new venues are being considered and a decision will be made very soon about our new home.

Unfortunately there will be no class on Tuesday 15th September as I have to attend a training course in Sydney. Class will be as normal on Tuesday 22nd September. In the meantime, we have learned lots of moves to practice. Last week we helped ladies learn the art of walking, or even running, backwards. But to help preserve gender balance, we have introduced a few moves where the guys have to do the same thing. See you all soon!

On Saturday 29th August we will be holding a singles night at the Bobby Dazzler Cafe. Roman's new chef will put together a menu of $10 meals for members of the singles network, but please be sure to book with me for these. Note that this is not a rock n roll night. A band 'Joker' will play music from all eras, including disco and latest tunes. However, it will be suitable dance music. For the jivers, we'll play great rock n roll dance tunes during the breaks, so you'll get a chance to show your stuff. Come along and support the evening if you can. You don't have to dine and there's no cover charge.
