Rock 'n' Roll is:
- easy to learn. Most people can do it -
- extremely versatile. It suits a large range of modern and older popular music -
- a great social activity for meeting new friends and partners -
- inexpensive. Anywhere there is suitable music you can dance -
- suitable for young and old -
- well established. Its practised around the world -
- very suitable for amateurs as well as pro dancers. You don't need to be perfect for fear of being laughed at -
- a great fitness activity -
- a socially acceptable way for ladies to show their knickers in public (but gentlemen don't notice!) -

Our dance class on 27/10/09
Gareth holds social Rock 'n' Roll dance classes at the West Croydon/Kilkenny RSL hall, 19 Rosetta Street, west Croydon, each Tuesday night at 7.30 PM.
You can visit our dance class blog for more information and pictures.
After a year in Studio 89 cafe, we have moved to this magnificent venue that features a huge dance floor in excellent condition. Rosetta Street is around 2 kilometres along Port Road from the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Lessons will focus on social jive styles rather than ballroom disciplines. The idea is to help aspiring dancers learn a versatile dance style that can be used in a wide variety of social settings and with a wide variety of music ranging from 1950's hits to the very lastest popular songs. To that end, a lot of music used for practice will be from the 'seventies, 'eighties and even the latest music so that dancers learn to adapt to big hit tunes from those eras.
Both back-step and 'pub rock' or modern jive styles of footwork are taught.
A beginner's class commences at 7.30 PM to run through basics. From 8.30 PM instruction switches to advanced moves. All attendees are welcome to join in both sessions. Experienced dancers will be available to help learners improve.
The cost for learners is $5 for the night.
While bookings aren't required it helps to advise Gareth in advance that you will be coming.
