I'm not sexist, but as a man I love to be in charge of a skirt. Fortunately, I know some ladies who are not unhappy about that.
I have never worn a skirt, preferring to dance Rock n Roll wearing trousers. It has more credibility for a bloke. I do love to see them on my dance partners, though. The swishing and swaying of gaily-colored skirts as the ladies dance does something to me deep inside, as it does with all men. That, presumably, is a large part of why women wear them!
These highly mobile bits of material seem to speak to us in a language all of their own. Whizzing racily, they loudly call our attention. Swaying gently they softly simper. Winsome in their appearance, they help to win some hearts for the women whose figures they adorn.
I doubt if women can experience what it is that we men feel but they know that a fascination is there. Similarly, I cannot experience what I assume to be joy in women when they 'shake their tail-feathers' and swing those skirts around. It clearly produces some sort of pleasure in them. They smile a lot and look very confident when they do it.
In Rock n Roll dance, the man leads the lady through a lot of fast, exciting moves. The lady doesn't mind being led (skillfully) and makes the most of the opportunity to move in impressive and exciting ways. Since she deliberately wears usually colorful skirts which highlight the motion, we can assume this is an intended effect.
It works. Dance is very much a visual pleasure as well as motional sensation. The 'dancing' of the costume along with it's bright colors greatly enhances the visual appeal of the lady's movements. If she is a particularly good 'mover' whose rhythm is excellent, the additional motion of the skirt in time with the music greatly increases the pleasure of her performance for on-lookers. I am not sure whether the feel of her skirt swishing in time with the music adds to a woman's sensational pleasure in dancing. Ladies will need to enlighten me. I think it probably does.
As a male lead I have discovered that I can enjoy ladies' skirts myself through the way that I lead the moves. When I spin a lady around the skirt swings outwards. If I spin her back quickly the hem gives something of a whip effect as it continues in a direction opposite to which she is now going, then suddenly reverses. If I spin her more quickly the skirt swings wider and higher. If I spin her twice in rapid succession it spins higher and wider still, perhaps offering tantalizing glimpses of hidden treasures. Not that it helps me, of course. If there's anything to be seen, its impossible for me to see it.
I'm there for other pleasures. The feel of dancing fast Rock n Roll keeping perfect time with the music, along with a great partner who can maintain the speed and still look good, is a joy that not many people will ever know. The additional excitement of having the lady's attractive skirt dancing along with us is the icing on the cake.
