Newcastle 50s Rock & Roll Club is a social dance club that was formed in May 1995 by a handful of enthusiastic rock & rollers who wanted to keep 50's music alive in the Newcastle area. Every Tuesday we meet at Kahibah Sports Club, where the regular members teach the new beginners basic rock & roll steps, in a social club environment.Dance lessons start at 7pm for the beginners group and intermediate group starts at 7:45pm. After the lessons we have social dancing till 9:30 - 10pm. Since the club began, the dance lessons have attracted a strong following with membership totaling around 400.
A yearly membership of $5.00 is charged with a weekly attendance fee of $2 for Tuesday night dances. The last Tuesday of each month we have a lesson free night where we book a local Duo, DJ or Band so our members can enjoy 3 hours of social dancing. This also gives the new members a chance to practice some of the dance steps they have learnt over the previous weeks.
Newcastle 50's Rock 'n' Roll Club is a non profit organisation and donates to local charities throughout each year.
