Studio 89 Cafe, A great Rock 'n' Roll venue in Adelaide
Let's suppose you are an avid rock 'n' roller, an Elvis impersonator, and you want to establish a bistro cum rock 'n' roll joint. What type of building would you choose?
An old jailhouse seems the obvious choice. That's exactly what Roman Wozniak, proprietor of Adelaide's Studio 89 Café chose. Well, almost! He has converted the old Prospect police station and courthouse into a restaurant-style boogie place where the joint definitely swings when the band begins to jump.
The early twentieth century 'art deco' style building at 89 Prospect Road, Prospect was built as solid as a rock. That's fortunate. It now 'rocks' on a regular basis.
The decor is very different from that of earlier days. Gone are the serious tones of justice in favour of far more colourful nightlife hues. Nowadays you'll witness many dancing couples doing serious justice to the lively tones of rock 'n' roll music. Pretty skirts, glittery belts and fancy shirts are plentiful.
